Registration (online and in person) :

 

Residents : starting Tuesday June 5, at 7 p.m.

 

Non-residents : starting Thursday June 7, at 7 p.m.

 

 

Non-residents wishing to register for children's or teens' activities must have a family membership at the Library and register in person.

 

 

 

ONLINE REGISTRATION

 

Participants must have a MULTI card number and make sure, before registration, that their phone number matches the phone number in our files. To register, go to ludik.pointe-claire.ca.

 

Internet registration assistance will be available on June 5 and 7, from 6 to 9 p.m., at 514-630-1225. Internet stations will be available at the Library for you to register online.

 

To find out how to get a MULTI card number, please call 514-630-1218, ext. 1637. If you don’t have a MULTI card number, you must register in person.

 

 

 

COSTS AND REFUNDS

 

Activities are free for Library members. Library membership is free for young people residing or attending a high school in Pointe-Claire.

 

If you have registered for an activity and cannot attend it, please let us know at least 24 hours in advance at 514-630-1218, extension 1623; otherwise, a fee will be applied.

TEEN SUMMER READING CHALLENGES

 

This summer, teens are encouraged to challenge themselves to read more. A number of challenges are offered; register now and start accumulating pages! Each book review submitted (online or in person) will earn coupons for the draws at the Hollywood Premiere Night (one coupon per one hundred pages read). Once registered, teens can pick up an information kit at the Children’s Info desk.

 

 

 

500-PAGE CHALLENGE

 

Teens fill out a reading leaflet and bring it to the Library in order to win a prize.

 

The leaflet needed to collect coupons will be given out during grade 6 class visits and to high school students on request.

 

Free.

Registration not required.

1,500-PAGE CHALLENGE

 

Those who read 1,500 to 4,499 pages will receive a prize and coupons for a draw to win a $50 gift certificate at a bookstore of their choice.

Teens can succeed at this challenge by reading approximately two 250-page novels each week. Those who read 4,500 to 8,499 pages will receive a prize and coupons for a draw to win one of two $75 gift certificates at a bookstore of their choice.

Teens learn the process of creating a film from start to finish. Each workshop builds on the previous ones and will culminate in several short films that will be screened at the end of the summer. Participants are encouraged, but not required, to register to all workshops.

MOVIEMAKING : FILMING PRINCIPLES AND STORYBOARDING with Zach Vincent

 

Learn the basics of filmography and create a detailed storyboard to aid in filming.

 

NOTE: Participants must bring a digital device capable of filming. Actual filming will be done independently in groups between this workshop and the next.

Participants will learn basic editing principles and then begin editing the films they recorded the previous week.
