Registration (online and in person) :

 

Residents and non-residents : starting Tuesday September 5, at 7 p.m.

 

 

 

ONLINE REGISTRATION

 

Participants must have a Multi card number and make sure, before registration, that their phone number matches the phone number in our files. To register, go to ludik.pointe-claire.ca.

 

Internet registration assistance will be available on September 5 and 7, from 6 to 9 p.m., at 514-630-1225. Internet stations will be available at the Library for you to register online.

 

To find out how to get a Multi card number, please call 514-630-1218, ext. 1637. If you don’t have a Multi card number, you must register in person.

 

 

 

COSTS AND REFUNDS

 

Activities are free for Library members. Library membership is free for young people residing or attending a high school in Pointe-Claire.

 

If you have registered for an activity and cannot attend it, please let us know at least 24 hours in advance at 514-630-1218, extension 1623; otherwise, a fee will be applied.

ASSISTING WITH CHILDREN’S ACTIVITIES

 

Teens earn volunteer hours by helping with a variety of children’s activities.

Free for Library members. Multi Card required.

BOOK REVIEWS

 

Teens write a short book review and earn 15 minutes of volunteering! Reviews will be published on the Teen Zone blog.

Free for Library members. Multi Card required.

 

Schedule according to participants’ availability.

TEEN COUNCIL

 

Teens help choose books, prepare themed book displays, and plan activities for teens. They can earn volunteer hours and get experience.

Mondays, September 18, October 30, November 20, and December 11, 2017.

DECORATION COMMITTEE

 

Teens earn volunteer hours by using their crafting and artistic skills to create themed decorations for the teen and children’s sections.

Preparing for the Friends of the Library book sale is a great way for teens to earn volunteer hours and gain experience.

READING BUDDIES

 

Teens share their love for reading with a Little Buddy (7 to 10 years old) one hour a week.

 

Applicants must be willing to commit for the year in order to join this program.

Application deadline: Thursday, September 21.

Free for Library members. Multi Card required.

 

From Thursday, October 12, 2017 to Friday, May 4, 2018.

READING BUDDIES : MEET THE BUDDY NIGHT

 

Big Buddies receive training and hear stories from other teens who have participated in the program. The Sorting Hat then assigns Little Buddies, and a reading schedule is set up with the child’s parents.

 

Free.

Teens must be registered as a Big Buddy to attend.

READING BUDDIES CHRISTMAS PARTY

 

Teens accompany their Little Buddy at a special holiday story hour.

 

Free.

Teens must be registered as a Big Buddy to attend.

FIERCE TARTAN : GAME DEVELOPER CLUB

 

An opportunity to create a video game with a pro. Participants will learn simple coding and Photoshop skills to create a first-person shooter game using the Corona platform.

 

All participants must bring a laptop. A recent PC or Mac is required.

 

 

PHOTOSHOP SERIES with Madeleine Sibthorpe, graphic designer

 

Individual registration required for each Photoshop session.
